H2GO!

For the next two months the children's and youth department will be participating in a Compassions International Ministry called - H2GO -

We will be raising money to help bring clean water.  This will be such a great opportunity for churches, parents, and children to learn how we can help others across the world and bring the Gospel with us!

You will see large water jugs in the upstairs of the Lighthouse, and in the children's department (upstairs of the education wing).  You can drop in change or dollars into either container.  We will compete to see which group raises the most money the next two months.  On January 1st we will send our money.

More than just "raising money" we want to educate ourselves each week on what people are going through across the world.  Please take time as a family to listen to the stories and discuss with your children these difficult topics and situations.

Fall Retreat

On October 29th the youth will be having a special one-day fall retreat.  It will be at Mr. Matt Pendley's farm in Falmouth, KY.

We will have time for fishing, playing games, sitting by a bonfire, and a special contest.

This day is free.  We will leave the church at 10am and be back at 8:30pm.  Transportation will be provided for those that need it.

Songs that moved a generation

We started a new series a few weeks ago featuring songs from American History in the last 50 years.

Each week will show a secular song that describes a generation, emotion, or a way of life.  By learning about the song, we can learn more about our history and culture.  We are then going to show God's response.

Even though we are picking songs not sung in church, each song will be appropriate and not feature anything crude or glorifying sin.

The Point Service

The Point is happening next week, September 21st!  We call it "The Point" because want to take an hour to focus on why we do what we do, which simply is to glorify God.  The Point of everything is to glorify God.  The kids, youth, and anybody else that would like to come is invited to come out!  There will be music and a message.

It's a special worship service for people of all ages.  We will be meeting at the church around 7pm. 

There is a meal in the fellowship hall beforehand at 6pm.

Generation Change Study

September 9th!  We are starting a new study on Friday afternoons at the Lighthouse.

It's all about money, making wise choices, and what God has to say about all of it!

By attending this study regularly you will receive $50 in your youth savings account.  This is for anybody in grades 6-12th.  We will have pizza afterward like we normally do on Fridays.

SHARP Groups!

This Wednesday - September 6th - starts SHARP Groups.

We will meet at the Lightouse like we normally do.  After a quick 10-15 minute talk you will break up into groups to talk about your week, the Bible study, and any other questions you may have.

Our goal for this is that by breaking down into smaller groups, each of you will have more of an opportunity to share your voice and opinions.
