We are having our 2nd annual Halloween Ministry this Thursday. We'll be passing out hotdogs, hot chocolate, apple cider, and CANDY!!!
We are asking all youth and parents to attend this event that will minister to kids and parents. We are going to be using this night to invite people to our church.
We are having it at Bro. Thom's house in Hartland. If you need directions e-mail him at oakridge.youth@hotmail.com
We would love to have as many teens and adults to help out with this social ministry. We'll take care of the hotdogs and buns, but we will need some drinks (for the volunteers) and candy!

Children's Fall Festival

At the end of the hour we will have a special worship service and message.
You are invited to wear costumes to the fall festival. I do ask that if you plan on wearing one that it is appropriate. Even if they are fake, we are asking that anything that looks like a weapon (knife, gun, etc.) not be taken to the fall festival.

Youth Halloween Ministry
This year for Halloween we will be once again having our outreach ministry. We will be in my subdivision (Hartland - By the Independence Cemetery). This subdivision will see hundreds of children and parents. We will be passing out hotdogs, hot chocolate, and apple cider.
Even with the rain last year we saw a large turnout, so expect more this year. I believe we gave out more than 150 hotdogs, and over 10 gallons of hot chocolate and apple cider.
This will go from 6-8:30 - On Halloween night (Thursday, October 31st).
This is an event that would be great for you to invite your friends to. We will need lots of people to canvas the neighborhood passing out food and drinks. We will also need people to stay at our house so we can pass out the food to the trick-or-treaters.
After its over we will have a Bible study at my house and give out some awards for best costume. Because this is a ministry we are again asking for modest, and appropriate costumes. We will be representing the church and would not want to cause a stumbling block for someone.

Pack a Car Day
You may have already seen this in the bulletin but I wanted to encourage each of you to push yourselves on this particular day. On Sunday, October 27th we are asking the entire church to fill their cars with people.
So many of you have friends that don't go to church on a regular basis. This would be such an amazing and easy opportunity to invite them to church. Try to work it out with your parents so that they could pick them up to go to church on Sunday morning.
This will take some sacrifice. You'll have to invite them sooner than later, and you will probably have to wake up early so that you can pick them up and be on time for Sunday School. But even with that, you are able to introduce your friend to your church, the Bride of Christ.

Afterschool Program
What are you doing this Wednesday afterschool?
Watch some T.V.? Get online? Stare at a wall?
Our afterschool program is starting this Wednesday!
We'll pick you up at your school and drive you to church. From there you can work on homework, hang out with friends, play games, and even learn something (i.e. guitar lesson).
It goes from 3:30 - 6:30pm.
We'll also be cooking as a group each Wednesday. You'll learn how to use a working kitchen to make a good meal for your family.
One of the best parts about this program is that it is absolutely free! The whole kit and caboodle won't cost you one cent.
The only thing we need is a signed permission slip. You can get one of these from a youth at Oak Ridge or online at the top of the screen.
At 6:30pm our youth worship service will start at the Lighthouse. It will go until 8pm.

New Stuff Coming...
We are working on some new stuff for this year. In the next week or so, we will be revealing our youth calendar. This will have all of our events for the following year.
Here are some highlights and changes you will see...
1. The afterschool program will be back! We will be hiring two college interns to help us with this ministry. Our goal is to enroll 20-25 students in the afterschool program for Wednesday nights. With the extra help we will be able to give music lessons, cooking lessons, and homework tutoring (among other stuff). This program will once again be FREE!!!
2. This year is the year of growth and missions. You will see more mission projects throughout the year. We'll be visiting nursing homes as well as other ideas that you thought of the past couple of weeks.
3. "The Point" will be brought back to Wednesday nights. As we said earlier our goal is to grow this year and we would like everyone to focus on inviting friends to our Wednesday night services. Our services will actually start at 6:30 and go until 8pm. During that time we will have a worship service, a message, and have a time for our SHARP Groups to meet.
We will have more exciting things to come. Start praying now as we develop our ministry around God's will.

Fundraiser!
Hey Guys,
We are going to have ONE MORE fundraiser this year for Camp/Mission trip.
It will be a dinner/concert on Wednesday July 10th. All money raised will go to lower the cost of camp!
We are in need of side dishes and desserts. We'll be having BBQ as our main dish.
One of the most important things you can do is INVITE people! Invite friends, family, neighbors, whoever to our fundraiser.
The dinner will start at 6pm, and the concert will start at 7pm. The concert will feature our praise band "Dirty Fridge" and our talented pastor, Bro. Randy.
Only those who work the fundraiser will receive the money that has been collected. We need fundraiser workers at church at 5pm on that Wednesday!

A Special "The Point".
Things have been crazy the past few weeks. Many of us have just had our spring break and are returning back to school to finish out our year.
I would like to invite you all to a special "The Point" service. The service will be a little different than our services in the past.
We will be talking about a very controversial subject. Because of this we are also inviting any adult/parent that would like to come and be a part of our service.
The one thing that will remain the same is the time. We will be going from 6-8pm. The first half will be our SHARE time when you all can come up and share something God is doing in your life.
I know I say this a lot, but I would really like you all to put an extra effort in bringing friends to this special night.

The Point = D-now advantage!
1st year we had the toilet racers
2nd year we had the catapults and sling shots
3rd year we have......????
Do you want to know this week? There is only ONE way to get this great advantage.
Whoever brings the most friends to The Point this Saturday will get to know what the mission is this year. Everyone else will find out days before the D-Now.
This is a big prize. As GI Joe says, knowing is half the battle.
